It’s said that only a handful of people in the world understand Einstein’s theories of special and general relativity. That’s a bit of an exaggeration. Einstein’s theories are vast and they contain some pretty complicated maths but to be honest they’re not that hard to understand if you keep the maths nice and simple. And that’s what this badge is about simple, everyday relativity. 

Demonstrate that you can do the following:

  • Describe how the speed of an object varies when measured by observers who are not moving, or moving relative to the object.
  • Suggest how the motion of two objects moving at different speeds in the same direction would appear to the other.
