To unlock this achievement you must submit a piece of developed written literary analysis that explores one text on the basis of their use of language, character, setting and plot and how these develop theme. The essay must exceed 800 words in length and conform to the following writing criteria:

Form
- Writing is extended in form – piece pursues a balanced line of reasoning
- Writing employs standard English diction and uses a transactional style
- Ideas are linked effectively using appropriate discourse markers
- Deliberate selection of tense and viewpoint
Structure
- The essay follows a clear paragraph structure with an introduction and conclusion
- Paragraphs are used to clearly delineate ideas
Logic
- Paragraphs make a clear point
- Paragraphs each contain a valid line of reasoning
- The essay uses quotations to support the argument/understanding
- Literary and linguistic features of all texts are addressed in detail
- The essay is tightly focussed on the question
Accuracy
- Spelling is accurate in most words with some lapses in uncommon/technical language
- Simple sentence structure is secure
- Compound sentence structure is secure
- Some minor errors in complex sentence structure that have a minimal impact on meaning
- Punctuation is accurate in most instances
- Tense and viewpoint are largely sustained consistently
